The move to make the add-on to its eTrust Threat Management portfolio follows its acquisition in August 2004 of anti-spyware software start-up PestPatrol Inc.
The PestPatrol technology enables spyware scanning and removal to be performed over the network from a central location. The technology also enables network administrators to define rules for spyware scanning and define safe lists or exclusion files of authorized applications based on department or individual role.
eTrust PestPatrol anti-spyware will be targeted at the consumer market and small business segment. The eTrust Threat Management software enterprise suite already includes anti-spam, anti-virus, firewall, intrusion detection and web filtering technologies.
