C-Cube Microsystems Inc, headquartered in Beverly Hills, California has announced that it will supply Moving Pictures Experts Group compression processors to Philips Electronics NV, enabling full-motion video capabilities to the CD-I products: the CL550 samples are available immediately, and production is scheduled to begin in July; the new version of the C-Cube CL550 image compression processor is fully compliant with most current Joint Photographic Experts Group specifications; it offers a 35MHz processor that is designed for high-end video-editing systems, at $165; the CL550-030 is a 30MHz processor for video boards used in personal video editing, presentations and training and costs $155.
