Business Connexion, BCX, is attempting to get Dimension Data to pay at least ZAR 140m ($18m) in damages relating to a deal that the latter won with bottling company Coca Cola Sabco. BCX claims that Didata used underhand tactics to win the deal, which included hiring a team of BCK staff which were working on the Sabco bid and getting them to secretly conspire to take the business to Didata.
BCX told the South African Financial Mail that Didata had managed to prevent the dispute going to court in the last few years, but that a date had now been set for early next year.
Buinsess Connexion agreed a deal with Telkom SA Ltd in June to accept a ZAR 2.4bn ($314m) takeover bid from the country’s incumbent operator. Telkom continues to seek approval for the deal from regulatory authorities, and the company said last week that if the deal is blocked, it would most likely undergo a management buy-out.
