The company is hoping to extend its current offerings of kids- and family-focused titles to a wider audience.
According to Buena Vista (BVG), one of the first titles to be published will be The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe followed by Disney’s Chicken Little, which is initially planned for release in France in November 2005 and then offered to the UK and Germany.
Both titles are developed for Sony’s PlayStation 2 gaming console, the Xbox system from Microsoft and Nintendo’s GameCube, handheld and PC platforms.
Thierry Braille, vice president of Europe, BVG, commented: Our goal is to become a leading player in the global video game industry by providing compelling game experiences to the mass market on all major platforms by combining the wealth of IP that exists within The Walt Disney Company as well as the creation of new IP that we can leverage back into the rest of the organization.
