BT Sport was blasted by customers after a failure of its website and app left viewers unable to watch matches.
Matches such as the FA cup tie between Manchester United and Cambridge United, as well as Bayern Munich versus Schalke, yesterday evening were not streamed successfully, with users facing an error message. The company’s television broadcast of the games was unaffected.
Angry users took to Twitter to express their anger at the service.
In response, BT tweeted: "Sorry if you’re unable to watch BT Sport on the App or online player, we’re aware & are working to fix it asap. Watching on TV is unaffected".
The news comes as BT prepares to bid against Sky, Al Jazeera and Discovery Communications for the right to broadcast Premier League games over the next three years.
