British Telecommunications Plc and Viag Intekom GmbH have launched legal proceedings in Germany against the Global One alliance of Sprint Corp, France Telecom and Deutsche Telekom AG, from carrying on its businesses as long as its competitors have almost no choice in finding alternative network suppliers. The pair assert that Global One was given European Commission clearance on condition that its competitors can obtain line capacity from at least two operators in each country in addition to Deutsche Telekom and France Telecom: Germany just licensed three, but two are confined to the minor markets of Cologne and Hamburg and only one operates nationwide; six German competitors are also complaining to Brussels about Telekom’s new business tariffs.
