Northern Telecom Ltd has been awarded the biggest contract in its history by its 53.3% shareholder Bell Canada Inc, with $913m of telephone exchanges: the switches will be built at the company’s plants in Resaerch Triangle Park, North Carolina and in Brampton, Ontario; the 18-month contract was awarded on a single source basis.
