Bell Atlantic Corp expects to announce a technical trial within two months of asymmetrical digital subscriber loop technology, which is said to have great potential for Internet access. The technology gets higher data speeds out of existing copper cables, which would enable the company to compete with enhanced cable television for Internet access and multimedia without the need to lay new cables.
