The agreement, which formalizes a long relationship between the two companies, also provides Logica with training and support on the full range of BEA products.
Logica has been using BEA software as the basis of many technology solutions for its clients for a number of years. For instance, the BEA WebLogic E-Business Platform, a single solution for enterprise and e-business applications that require commerce, portal, integration and Web Services, resides at the core of an operational support system that Logica has developed for large telecommunications companies. British Telecom is one client using a multi-product operational support system, built using BEA technology to enable its Ignite Content Hosting. This sophisticated ASP platform enables the integration of applications to manage, sell and provide a variety of content hosting services to BT’s customer-base through an extensive network of Internet data centers across Europe.
Logica is also embedding BEA WebLogic into two innovative solutions designed for the financial services industry. The first, called Continuous Linked Settlement, is a new system designed to reduce the commercial risk to both customers and banks in foreign exchange trade settlements. The second is a payments product that plays a critical role in banking businesses’ infrastructure by optimizing liquidity on trade settlements, both internally and externally. These solutions demonstrate the value of BEA’s e-business infrastructure software as a platform for business-critical applications in the financial sector. BEA solutions are used by the majority of the Fortune Global 500.
Having seen a huge amount of demand for e-business solutions in both the financial and telecommunications industries, Logica needed to establish an extremely resourceful approach to developing solutions, said Gurdeep Grewal, business manager for eCRM at Logica. BEA’s products are an important enabling factor in the rapid development and market success of these Logica products. Our customers will be able to take full advantage of the power, flexibility and high scalability of the BEA WebLogic E-Business Platform.
The two companies already have a strong synergy, said Olivier Huck, vice president of Alliances in EMEA for BEA Systems. This agreement is important to both of our businesses, and more importantly, to our customers. It provides a framework for integrating the BEA E-Business Platform with Logica’s global solutions. Together, BEA and Logica can provide customers with an outstanding combination of technology, experience and expertise.
