Avici Systems Inc. a leading provider of scalable core routing solutions for intelligent IP-over-optical networks, and OrchestreamTM Holdings plc, a leading provider of services activation and performance management software to global telecommunications network operators, announced a partnership that will enable network operators to deliver new IP services faster and more efficiently.
The partnership between Avici and Orchestream will enable network operators to deploy and manage Avici’s scalable IP-over-optical core solution in combination with a range of supported third party provider edge (PE) and customer edge (CE) routers. This will minimize operational costs while enabling seamless IP VPNs and differentiated service provisioning in a multi-vendor environment utilizing Multiprotocol Label Switching (MPLS) and Quality of Service (QoS) features.
Steve Kaufman, president and COO of Avici Systems said, Our customers are looking for innovative management solutions that enable cost-effective, rapid provisioning of new IP-based services. Avici’s MPLS and QoS capabilities, combined with Orchestream IP Service Activation software, provides a way for carriers to drive profitability and accelerate the delivery of next-generation IP services.
Orchestream delivers the world’s first open scalable platform giving service providers the ability to offer their customers key IP services including MPLS-based IP VPNs with application specific performance guarantees. Its software uses a sophisticated model of the Network to allow services to be activated across equipment from multiple vendors in a reliable, accurate and timely manner.
