Autodesk Inc, Sausalito, California plans to integrate the AutoSolid solid modelling software into Release 11 of its two and three-dimensional AutoCAD program. AutoSolid was developed at the company’s Mechanical Computer-Aided Engineering technical centre in Atlanta, and the new version of AutoCAD is scheduled for release in the first half of 1990. The combination is planned to provide mechanical engineers and other design and drafting professionals with a fully integrated system that unites drafting, wire-frame modelling and solid modeling – all available in a single design database and running under a common user interface. AutoSolid will be released in a new edition as an extension to AutoCAD at $500, the current one is now also $500.
