AT&T Corp has taken 51% of a joint venture to make fibre optic cable in Pune, Maharashtra; Finolex Cables Ltd will hold the balance. The plant will produce $20m a year of AT&T’s LXE Lightpack optical cable, aiming to start production in 1996.
