ASUS has introduced a new, low-end Android tablet called the MeMO Pad ME172V. The tablet will be launched in select countries (primarily in emerging markets) in the coming weeks.

The company said it will be available in the US for $149 in April this year.

The 7-inch tablet runs on Android Jelly Bean with a 1,024×600 resolution screen and powered by a 1GHz VIA WM8950 processor.

The ME172V ships in 8GB or 16GB configurations and features a 4270mAh, 16Whr battery, a 1-megapixel camera and is capable of 720p HD video capture at 30fps.

Other features of the tablet include 1GB of RAM, a headphone jack, microphone, a micro USB port, a gyroscope and 802.11b/g/n Wi-Fi.

Earlier this month, ASUS announced a 24-inch Fast Gaming Monitor, claiming it is the world’s first 144Hz rapid refresh-rate display with 1ms (GTG) response time for Full HD gaming at very high frame rates.

In September 2012, ASUS introduced a new Republic Of Gamers TYTAN CG8580 gaming desktop powered by an Intel Core i7-3770K and Windows 7 Home Premium.
