AST Research Inc, Irvine, California wants to tap into the creativity of Sound Blaster king Creative Technology Ltd, Singapore and the two are to join forces to develop and market telephone and multimedia products. Target products include a sound board with telephone modem functions on it. As well as facsimile and voice mail, the companies will look at speech recognition and personal computer speaker phones. Creative has also agreed to buy the 30% outstanding in its Taiwanese subsidiary Avidtek Co for $285,000.
