ASK Computer Systems Inc has further decentralised the company by making each of the three business units that currently function within the group responsible for their own profit and loss. Eric Carlson was named president of the applications business unit, Dennis McGinn was appointed president of the Ingres business unit, and David Sohm was elevated to president of Data 3 Systems. The first two units are roughly equal in size, with the AS/400 manufacturing business contributing around $20m to the company’s $400m turnover. The change was felt to be necessary as ASK and Ingres operate using diffferent business models. In addition to continuing as chief financial officer of ASK, Les Wright assumes the role of chief administrative officer and will liaise between these three units and the newly-formed business development unit.
