Kay Nishi’s ASCII Corp has teamed with British Telecommunications Plc and France Telecom to provide users of its ASCIINet in Japan with access to British Telecom’s Prestel and France Telecom’s Minitel viewdata services. It already provides access to the Delphi service in the US, with reciprocal access for users of both services. ASCIINet is the third largest Japanese personal computer communications service, after Nifty, run by Fujitsu Ltd and linked into Compuserve, and the PC-VAN network, operated by NEC Corp.
