Under the terms of the extended agreement, Ascential will resell IBM’s DB2 Information Integrator software for the z/OS as part of its Enterprise Integration Suite.
DB2 Information Integrator is a federated data query tool referred to as enterprise information integration (EII). The software dynamically pulls together data from disparate sources without having to physically move that data to a central location.
In addition to enhanced connectivity to IBM’s DB2, IMS, VSAM, flat-file sources, customers also benefit from performance advantages over IBM mainframe adapters from non-IBM sources including federated mainframe query joins, built-in recovery and read-write capabilities.
Ascential isn’t the only data integration vendor eyeing IBM’s Software Group as a strategic partner and lucrative channel for selling its software. Arch-rival Informatica Corp is also wooing IBM’s mainframe business after snapping up mainframe data connectivity specialist Striva Corp last year.
