Leasing is becoming such an important business to IBM Corp that IBM Japan Ltd has decided that it will buy the 49.3% stake held by its joint venture partner Orix Corp – the former Orient Leasing – in the Computer Systems Leasing Ltd joint venture for an undisclosed sum. Computer Systems, which leases small and medium sized computers as well as mainframes, will offer additional services, including software, maintenance and engineering after becoming a wholly-owned IBM Japan subsidiary. Orix will continue to finance the installation of IBM’s computers for several of its group companies and for itself.
