Alameda, California-based Aristacom International Inc has teamed with Aspect Communications Inc and launched Scil*Aspect, the latest product in its switch-to-computer interface link line. Aristacom develops software that links Aspect’s CallCenter with applications that reside on IBM System/370 mainframes. The company provides a bridge between voice and data systems – the last step in the integration process between switches and mainframes. Scil*Aspect is mainframe-based software that enables existing applications to incorporate functions such as synchronised screen management, data directed call routing and preview dialling. The interface is based on IBM’s LU6.2 protocol facilitating two-way, peer-to-peer application communications, and uses a PS/2 Micro Channel interface. The implementation is transparent to end users and avoids reprogramming of application software. Aistacom says that significant interest in the technology is coming from the teleservicing industry where service agents routinely handle large numbers of calls which require some access to mainframe data. Aristacom says that typical productivity gains are around 15%. Scil*Aspect is available in August 1990, but the company gave no prices.
