Under terms of the deal, Sterling, Virginia-based Apptix will pay $3m in cash and shares to acquire Chicago-based ASP-One, which provides Microsoft hosting services around Exchange, CRM, and Small Business Accounting Solutions. The company partners with a range of other vendors including Citrix, Cisco, IBM, NetIQ, NetScreen, and Sybari, and counts The Best Hotels of the World, JJI lighting Group, Tokyopop, Dunn Solutions Group, YMCA, and Top Flight Systems among its customers.
Apptix will also take on ASP-One’s existing partnerships and reseller agreements, which includes a consulting services agreement with Accenture to provide its messaging services to customers such as McLeodUSA. Apptix said that ASP-One will provide it with $165,000 in recurring monthly revenue.
This is the second acquisition Apptix has made in recent months, adding to its July 2004 purchase of Cygnet Technologies LLC, which runs a Microsoft Exchange self-sign-up site eOulook.com. Apptix paid $225,000 in shares for the operation, which has 2,000 end users and $17,000 recurring monthly revenue.
Apptix was spun out from Norwegian ASP pioneer Telecomputing ASA in April 2002, when the company received $5.8m in funding from investors led by Convexa Partners, and an additional $5.5m from TeleComputing. At the same time, the company began trading on the Oslo Stock Exchange. For the six months ended June 30, Apptix reported a net loss of $2.4m compared to a loss of $3.4m in 2003, on revenue that grew 90% to $2.54m.
