The application software industry has seen major growth in implementation of cloud computing by enterprises, and it is projected to become a menace for traditional software companies, according to a Wall Street Equity Research.
The research further said that there are, however, few players in the software industry who will benefit from increasing adoption of cloud computing by enterprises and one of those companies is BMC Software.
In addition, the report also said that the CA technologies saw positive response in market with a surge in revenue bolstered by sales of software products which were additions to its product-line through the acquisition of NetQoS, 3Tera and Nimsoft.
According to the report, the other area to watch in the software application industry is the smart phone, with 60 million smartphones were sold in the 2Q, up 30% from the 2Q last year. This high penetration of different smartphones results in multiple platforms for software developers to work in.
Further, the report said that the online application stores have also made it easy for software developers to lower distribution costs and expand their customer base.
