Apple Computer Australia has lost its largest reseller chain, with the liquidation of the Melbourne-based IC Technologies Group. IC Technologies had eight stores across four states. The move to put the group into liquidation came after a creditors’ meeting at Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu’s Melbourne office on Tuesday. Industry sources estimate that up to $12m may be owing to creditors. Apple executives claim that the demise of IC Technologies will have minimal impact on Macintosh sales, with some stores keeping their doors open under new – but yet to be disclosed – ownership. Marketing director Lars Marcher has also stressed that IC’s woes should not be put down solely to Apple’s diminishing market share, since the company operated as a multi-vendor business. IC Technologies was set up in 1989 under owner operators Ian Bamford and Con Macos. The parent company was Collinscroft.
