A Businessweek cover story on Apple Computer Inc’s latest corporate strategy has 30 of the company’s engineers working on a Motorola 88000 RISC project under the code-name Jaguar: the magazine, quoting Apple employees, says Jaguar will take another two years to finish and will include extensive video technology and the ability to connect to television sets and video cassette recorders; it is not known whether it will also run Macintosh software but by the time it’s ready, a 68040 co-processor will likely be so cheap that compatibility could be handled that way.
