The token-based system will be used to provide additional security when customers access their accounts using the bank’s online banking program pcbanker.

The bank said the tokens will be available to all new and existing customers but they are not required for online account access.

According to RSA Security, the SecurID system uses the sign-on ID and password from American Bank, which is used to sign on to pcbanker, and a small token device that displays a new six-digit code every 60 seconds.

When users sign on to the pcbanker service, the site will deploy the SecurID platform to verify the identity of the customer.
