America Online Inc now has 600,000 subscribers, a growth of 165% over the past year: it exceeded 531,000 subscribers as of December 31, 1993 and 219,000 a year earlier; it said demand has caught it by surprise and focus is now on expanding the infrastructure to accommodate the growing subscriber base; it raised $62m in a share offering in the second quarter ended December 31.
