The new 52,000-square-foot silicon R&D center will house about 350 engineers. The company’s old Bangalore facility will continue to be used for admin, sales and marketing.
Ruiz told local reporters that a manufacturing fab in the country was under consideration. It would become India’s first major silicon-making factory. Intel earlier this year said it would not build a fab in India because of its frustration with the Indian government and its inarticulate policies for the chip industry.
