The features of Phenom include AMD CoolCore technology, support for a split power plane motherboard design and the ability to set independent core frequencies. The two variants of processors are available as Phenom 9500 and Phenom 9600 with 2.2GHz and 2.3GHz priced at $251 and $283, respectively.

Intel also unveiled 16 new server and PC processors on November 11, 2007. In desktop processors category, it launched Core 2 Extreme QX9650 quad core processor based on 45nm Hi-k technology. In server processors category, the company launched its dual-core and quad-core 45nm Hi-k Intel Xeon processors. The company claims that the new quad-core chips are capable of providing speed in the range of 2GHz to 3.2GHz.

According to Yahoo, Wachovia Capital markets analyst David Wong said that the new processors launched by AMD worked at speeds well below Intel’s quad-core offerings.

At the launch of Phenom, AMD also unveiled its ATI Radeon HD 3800 series graphics processors with ATI CrossFireX and AMD 7-Series chipsets.
