AMD has launched its new generation of processors, the Fusion platform, which the company says have the capability to handle both multi-core processors and high-end graphics on a single chip.
Fusion platform has a graphics card and microprocessor on it, and uses multi-core CPU (x86) technology with DirectX 11-capable graphics.
AMD said the Fusion platform will improve the speed and performance of desktops, laptops, tablets and mobile devices which play video or graphics.
AMD India managing director and regional vice-president Ravi Swaminathan said the new chipset represents the biggest shift in PC technology in 40 years.
"AMD Fusion will eliminate the need for consumers to choose between power and performance," Swaminathan said.
Fusion Experience Programme vice-president Manju Hegde said the new design now offers to ordinary people the computing capability that was earlier associated with supercomputers.
AMD has not disclosed the price of the product.
