AMD has released its Catalyst video driver 11.3, and a preview of the 11.4 driver, the final version of which is to be released next month.
The only change made for Windows users is that AMD Accelerated Parallel Processing OpenCL runtime is now enabled by default.
Catalyst 11.3 has a seamless support for GPU Compute. It also has improved 3D Blu-ray playback and better recognition of 8x anti-aliasing. The Linux version introduces support for openSUSE 11.4.
The preview version of the Catalyst 11.4 driver has quite a few significant optimisations, ranging from 12% to 70%, in a number of popular games including Civilization V, Call of Duty: Black Ops and Batman: Arkham Asylum.
Improvements have also been made to the Catalyst Control Center, with new Display Management controls, easier configuration of displays and display settings and a new Eyefinity setup group.
The Catalyst 11.4 preview driver is available only for Windows 7.
The releases also come with bug fixes.
