Fairfield, New Jersey-based Allegro New Media Inc signed a letter of intent to acquire Serif Inc, a Nashua, New Hampshire-based maker of destop publishing and graphics software, for 1m Allegro shares. The deal also includes the purchase of Serif (Europe) Ltd, the company’s British operation. Allegro shares were trading at $4.625, up a dollar, late Monday afternoon. In addition to the stock, Allegro said it will pay key Serif employee stockholders $150,000, pursuant to employment agreements. Both companies make products for the small office-home office marketplace.
