For BDO Maastricht, this will mean a near-doubling of the workforce, to 40 people. The expansion will also mean that BDO ranks amongst the top companies serving medium-sized businesses in the Maastricht region. The merger is in keeping with BDO’s policy to achieve a stronger base, both locally and regionally.

Raymond Werker and Paul Bronckers, board members of Alfers & Limbourg, are making the move to BDO together with their 20-strong staff. Raymond Werker: About a year ago we separated from KPMG Maastricht. In order to maintain our attraction in the marketplace, and to be able to continue offering our clients a wide-ranging package of services, we opted to join forces with BDO. BDO represents an obvious choice for us, given its strong position in the small to medium-sized business sector, and we are quite at ease with its culture.

Jos Verspaget, branch manager at BDO Maastricht, is similarly enthusiastic. He says: The merger will strengthen our position in this region, and is in keeping with BDO’s aim to strengthen its position as a consultant for the medium-sized business sector in the Netherlands.

In January 2000, in the south of the Netherlands, Beckers Accountants in Landgraaf, and the MKB office of KPMG Eindhoven joined BDO, and BDO in turn merged with Walgemoed Accountants & Adviseurs.
