Aldus Corp has fixed the bugs in PageMaker 4.0 for the Macintosh and is now shipping a 4.01 release: the new version eliminates the bugs associated with Bad Table Index error messages and the Knockouts printing option and also eliminates PageMaker’s tendency to create temporary files on the hard disk when run with Adobe Type Reunion; there are also performance enhancements and added features – it redraws screens after closing certain dialogue boxes and loads fonts faster and places text files up to 35% more quickly than 4.0; it has automatic page renumbering across publication files linked as books, an option to condense documents each time they are saved, and the ability to include names in an index automatically; it is being mailed free to all registered 4.0 users.
