Alcatel Data Systems Ltd, Cockfosters, London has released a package designed to eliminate cumbersome and error-prone log-on/log-off sequences that are usually necessary when switching from one mainframe application to another. Alcatel’s XC/3270 enables 3270 terminals and devices to access multiple applications concurrently in SNA, non-SNA, and X25 environments. Personals, SNA and bi-sync terminals and printers can access and switch between applications on the same or different hosts and the company claims the process is faster and easier. XC/3270 combines existing software designed to run on the ITT 8800 communications processors from NCR-Comten, with a new program, Display System Manager, which gives the package its switching capability, security features and X25 access.
