Alcatel Alsthom SA’s Alcatel Contracting has won a contract worth some $125m to help modernise and extend Lebanon’s war-ravaged telecommunications network: it will deliver and install an optical fibre network and a microwave transmission network in the in Beirut and the Tripoli area; the contract also includes the supply of two earth stations for international satellite communications and the installation of a cable network that will connect over 225,000 subscribers.
