The Alcatel Cable subsidiary of Alcatel NV says its Alcatel Canada Wire unit has agreed in principle to sell its fibre channel business to Hewlett Packard Canada Ltd for an undisclosed sum: Alcatel Canada is selling the business, which develops switching systems for the high-speed transmission of computer data, following its recent decision to refocus on its core businesses.
