WiBro is a subset of mobile WiMAX that was developed in Korea. Alcatel and KT said they would build a WiBro Reality Center in the country for interoperability testing between mobile devices and base stations. It will also serve as a showcase for WiBro-related gear and services.
Paris, France-based Alcatel will provide the radio access and core network elements for center, and will integrate the equipment with application platforms that will be used to test applications with local third-party developers, said the companies.
The center will be linked to the R&D operations of Seoul, Korea-based KT to test converged fixed and mobile applications.
Terms of the partnership were not disclosed.
