Aeon Systems Inc, Albuquerque, New Mexico, has developed an Embedded Unix Toolkit, dubbed EUT, that automates the creation of Digital Unix configurations for embedded target applications. Developers can use the Embedded Unix Toolkit to modify Alpha Unix to fit on embedded targets where EUT serves as a menu from which users can pick what they need to build a Unix kernel. It has an X Window graphical user interface for configuring the OSF/1 Unix real-time kernel and supports files for deployment on a PCMCIA disk or Flash card. The Embedded Unix Toolkit automatically generates file systems and one-button build and download for system duplication. The Embedded Unix Toolkit includes a database of files contained in a standard Digital Unix configuration, and, based on the facilities requested, it determines which files must be incorporated for a given application. It costs from $4,500. Aeon has also recently launched Alpha MacroScopic Tool for DEC OSF/1. AMT, as it is called, logs events and carries out diagnostic analysis for embedded DEC OSF/1 so that dev-elopers can view and diagnose event-driven multitasking operations.
