Advanced RISC Machines Ltd formally announced the ARM variant for Network Computers as the ARM7500FE, an application-specific microcontroller described as a multimedia system on a single- chip. It provides integrated video control, stereo sound outputs, keyboard and joystick interfaces, and has an innovative memory interface to ensure low system memory costs while maintaining high performance. It also incorporates a floating point unit, as required by many two- and three-dimensional graphics and telephony applications, the Cambridge, UK company said.
