At the same time Hitachi released a board for its Flora 3010D personal workstation which is designed to enable natural processing of moving images from video tape recorders and video cameras, as well as other multimedia processing. The board supports display of 16.77m colours, and a compression decompression handling chip has been developed based on the JPEG standard, to provide a 30-to-one data compression ratio. The multimedia board will be available at the end of the month, costing $3,643.
