Acorn Group Plc has signed a contract with Japanese consumer electronics manufacturer Funai Electric Co Ltd to develop an online home banking terminal for an undisclosed European bank. The terminals connect to the internet via a 33Kbps modem and a standard copper telephone line, and store users’ personal identification numbers on a smart card. They use Acorn’s Dynamic Horizontal Scaling technology to convert images from the widescale width of the web to fit onto a TV screen without distortion.
