UK-based job site Reed’s survey has revealed that 33% of the workers access social networking sites at their workplace.

Facebook was the most accessed social networking site followed by LinkedIn. Other sites included video sharing site YouTube, followed by Twitter and blog postings. More marketing and IT professionals are likely to be browsing social networks than engineers and accountants while at work.

It was also revealed that 28% of companies had blocked access to social media sites, while 40% of the organisations have limited the access to them. On the other hand, 32% of the organisations are not uncomfortable when their employees access social media sites.

Two out of three people believe that companies can exercise their right to block access to social networking websites at work.

Sixty-four per cent of people, who accessed social networking websites at work, did with their mobiles while 36% used a work computer to log into social networks.
