Diversifying steelmaker Nippon Kokan KK says it will start sample shipments of 4M-bit Flash memory chips by the end of the year: the parts were jointly developed with Taiwanese semiconductor manufacturer Macronix International Co Ltd, and are fabricated by Macronix; 16M-bit versions are in the plan.
