The company’s new Switch 4500 would provide stackable Layer 3 10/100 managed switching for cost-effective deployment of secure converged networks, 3Com said. It supports up to 384 users per stack.
3Com is positioning the device as a cost-effective alternative to offerings from rivals Hewlett-Packard and D-Link.
Security features of Switch 4500 include user and device authentication, access control and support for the company’s upcoming quarantining service, which isolate suspicious network traffic.
3Com said the device would enable intelligent traffic management and have Smart Power Over Ethernet capability for converged VoIP and wireless infrastructure.
Additionally, the switch would support the new TippingPoint X505 security platform, as well as boast plug-and-play support for multiple vendors’ VoIP services.
The Switch 4500 comes in a 26-port version for $695, while a 50-port version costs $1,295. The Switch 4500 PWR 26-port is priced at $2,295
And the PWR 50-port retails at $4,295.
