1998 should be a good year for system administrators and security professionals. According to a survey carried out worldwide for the CIO Institute, annual salary increases for this group, which is in high demand but short supply, will be around 15%. The survey suggests 61% of system administrators and system security staff already earn between $40,000 and $70,000, and it says a lack of formal university training programs is exacerbating the problem for employers.
