The 41 year-old journalist wrote a column in the Daily Mail complaining that her ‘stunning looks’ are the reason for her lack of friends, failure to receive promotions by female bosses, and all round jealousy from other women.
"I know how lucky I am," said Brick in the Daily Mail article. "But there are downsides to being pretty the main one being that other women hate me for no other reason than my lovely looks."
Brick went on to say that other women find nothing more annoying than having an attractive woman in the same room.
The Daily Mail received over 1.5 million hits on the story, and thousands of comments. "This has to be a joke right?!!," said one reader." This is a belated April Fools’ Day prank….. please say it is……. This poor woman is deluded. She needs help," said another.
Another commented, "Maybe everyone hates you because you’re pompous."
Samantha Brick was mentioned so many times that her name started trending on Twitter, and the Tweets about her were, for the most part, less than nice.
Despite her history of columns written for the Daily Mail, some say the story is just too exaggerated to be real – or meant to deliberately provoke a reaction on social networks.
Twitter uses have been relentless since Samantha Brick’s article, even creating a hashtag, #samanthabrickfacts.
But what do you think? Is she ‘delusional’ as some commentators have suggested, or does she have point that is proven all the more by the reaction to her story? Comment below the line.
