In an effort to streamline its product line-up, Yahoo has confirmed its plans to phase-out seven of its products that were not generating any profit.
The company will shut-down Yahoo Avatars, Yahoo App Search, Yahoo Sports IQ, Yahoo Clues, Yahoo Message Boards website and the Yahoo Updates API The changes will come into effect April 1, 2013 while Yahoo! Updates API will longer be available from 16 April 2013..
Yahoo Platform EVP, Jay Rossiter, said that the company’s move to shut down some of its products comes after much thought and deliberation.
"Before making these decisions, we look at a variety of factors," Rossiter said.
"The most critical question we ask is whether the experience is truly a daily habit that still resonates for all of you today."Ultimately, we’re making these changes in an effort to sharpen our focus."
In 2012, Yahoo had phased out some of its more popular products features and services including Yahoo! Messenger public chat rooms and messenger Pingbox.
