Time has acquired StyleFeeder, a personal shopping engine that uses pattern recognition technology and its members’ style preferences to make recommendations for clothing, shoes and accessories from online retailers.

StyleFeeder will become part of the InStyle family of brands and its e-commerce technology will power shopping on InStyle.com.

StyleFeeder aggregates content from a catalog of over 14m products from thousands of retail partners across the web and facilitates members in getting personalised recommendations, and enables to track their favourite items, rate and share products and interact with shoppers around the world.

In addition, StyleFeeder’s browsing interface allows users to filter results using levers such as price, brand, product attributes and colour.

Fran Hauser, president of digital for Time’s style and entertainment group, said: This is a strategic step in building on our digital success. Our brands reach millions of consumers through our websites, social media and mobile products. StyleFeeder’s e-commerce technology will open the door to new transactional revenue streams and give the InStyle community an experience they can’t find anywhere else online.
