Panda Security, a provider of cloud-based security products, and Against Intuition, a developer of website rating service Web of Trust (WOT), have formed a partnership to offer a safer web search through their new co-branded version of WOT.
The companies claim that the WOT browser add-on warns internet users about risky websites, to provide protection against online scams, identity theft, spyware, spam, and unreliable shopping sites. WOT’s protection is now extended with Panda’s ‘up-to-the-minute’ information on malware distributors and unsafe domains.
The free co-branded WOT security add-on is available for Firefox and Internet Explorer users. By joining forces, both companies expect to attract new users make searching, shopping, and browsing on the internet in a safer way, the company claims.
Reportedly, WOT is a community-based safe surfing tool that uses an intuitive traffic-light rating system to enable internet users stay safe as they search, browse, and shop online. The WOT security add-on provides safety ratings to search results when using Google, Yahoo!, Wikipedia and other sites, enabling users protect their computers and personal information.
Juan Santana, CEO of Panda Security, said: As we did with Collective Intelligence, we trust in the power of the community to improve the safety of the user, that’s why we believe WOT is the best tool to help with safe surfing on the internet.
