Magento, an ecommerce platform, and Moneybookers, an online payment systems, have entered into a partnership to integrate Moneybookers’ payment and merchant services as a bundled module into the upcoming Version 1.4 of the open source Magento eCommerce platform.

Magento said that the Moneybookers‘ network will allow Magento merchants to offer customers a range of payment and banking options globally, with over 80 local payment choices in more than 200 countries.

In addition, the integration enables online retailers to benefit from its risk management expertise for every transaction and provides them with charge-back protection upon request.

Earlier, the Moneybookers payment extension for Magento Community and Enterprise Edition was offered as an extension to the core Magento platform through Connect, the company’s marketplace for third party and community add-ons.

The Moneybookers module has been developed for Magento by developer, Phoenix Medien, which is a Magento Professional Partner.

Roy Rubin, CEO of Varien, the Magento company, said: “Moneybookers offers Magento users a ready-made solution which can be used to accept payments immediately from over 200 countries, and which is completely hassle-free. This provides great value to retailers, allowing them to attract customers from around the world to their stores.

“Moneybookers provides retailers running on Magento peace of mind by offering fraud risk prevention as a standard part of their services. This is a very important consideration for many when weighing the decision to establish an online channel.”
