Google has updated its Google Play Developer Program Policies affecting both apps and the advertising practices that are adapted by several apps.
As per new policies, Apps cannot set ads or links to ads in the notification bar and they can only add notifications related to the functionality of the app.
Adding fake or misleading information in any part of the app or app description is prohibited, including the developer name and linked website.
The updated policy also forbids apps to adjust the settings of the device, modify the order of the apps, replace bookmarks, or create any other changes to the device without seeking permission from the user.
Further, latest policies restrict application developers to use homescreen shortcuts, bookmarks, or icons for the purpose of advertising.
Mainly, Google is now mandating all application developers to use its own billing system during selling in-app goods.
The new policy makes clear that any app that offers cash or other values including a prize comes under the gambling category.
Google has also revised hate speech policy that now offer more broad coverage, while the interstitial ads need to have visible and easy to click close buttons.
Apps must not promote user to remove other third-party apps.
Google has given all Android developers 30 days time to make sure that existing Android apps meet the requirements of new rules.
